What ingredients do I need to make vegan chocolate pumpkin waffles?
Below are notes about the main ingredients before we get into the full recipe located lower in this post on how to make vegan chocolate pumpkin waffles:
- flour – The star of the show, we only used all-purpose flour here because we wanted this recipe to be as accessible as possible for everyone.
- cocoa powder – You want to use an unsweetened cocoa powder here.
- brown sugar – sugar helps with sweetness but the molasses in brown sugar also helps with moisture in the waffles
- baking powder – this helps with rising
- pumpkin pie spice – pumpkin pie spice is a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and ginger
- salt – this helps bring out the flavor of the other ingredients
- pumpkin puree – this is just pureed pumpkin. Do not confuse this with pumpkin pie mix which already has spices added to it
- dairy free milk – any dairy free milk can work – we use non-sweetened in our recipe since we are adding sugar to the recipe

I am not a fan of pumpkin. Can I leave out the pumpkin and just make chocolate waffles? Is so, do I need to put an ingredient in place of the pumpkin?
