We found 10 different brands and we’re giving you all the details in our vegan frozen pizza taste test.
We had only tried 1 or 2 (can’t remember) of these brands going into the video, so we were excited to try some of the newer ones. Overall, we are excited with some of the new ones we found, but know that there is more work to do in this space.
If you haven’t seen our other taste tests, we hope you’ll check those out as well.

- Monteli
- Alpha
- Mikey’s
If we didn’t feature your favorite, let us know!
How did we do the vegan frozen pizza taste test?
It was really quite simple.
We cooked each pizza according to the packaged instructions and then ate them as close to the finishing time as possible for the most accuracy.
We were looking for mostly taste and texture. Our goal was to find the one closest to what we remember other frozen pizzas that contain dairy and meat tasting like.
Monteli Organic Tuscan Garden Pizza Review
Thoughts: We decided not to rank the two veggie pizzas with the rest because it just wasn’t a fair comparison. However, we actually didn’t mind this. The sauce was kind of neutral, but the crust was nice. There was no vegan cheese on this one. This company makes no other pizzas that are vegan-friendly.
Where to Buy: We found this at Acme, it appears Publix also has it. There is not a store locator on the company’s website.
Monteli Organic Tuscan Garden Pizza Ingredients: Organic Wheat Flour, Organic Sour & Sweet Tomato Sauce (Organic Tomato Puree, Organic Grilled Onion, Organic Balsamic Vinegar Of Modena (Organic Wine Vinegar, Organic Cooked Grape Must), Organic Caramel (Organic Glucose Syrup, Organic Cane Sugar), Organic Sunflower Oil, Water, Organic Sugar, Salt, Waxy Corn Starch, Organic Dried Basil, Organic Dried Oregano), Water, Organic Broccoli, Organic Diced Tomatoes, Organic Seasoned Mushrooms (Organic Champignon Mushrooms (Agaricus Bisporus), Organic Sunflower Oil, Salt, Organic Parsley, Organic Garlic Powder, Organic Onion Powder, Rice Starch), Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Red Onion, Salt, Yeast.
Top 9 Allergens: Wheat
Price: $6.99
Blackbird Plant-Based Supreme Pizza Review
Thoughts: The taste of the ingredients, cheese, pizza sauce on this one were great. The crust was thicker than the others and had the perfect balance of soft and crunchy texture. This was on the top of our list. There are other varieties also available.
Where to Buy: Blackbird Foods Store Locator
Blackbird Plant-Based Supreme Pizza Ingredients: Crust (unbleached flour, filtered water, yeast, sea salt, olive oil, organic brown sugar), tomato sauce (tomatoes, basil, dry oregano, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, salt), vegan cheese (Filtered Water, Coconut Oil, Food Starch – Modified, Sea Salt, Mozzarella and Parmesan Flavor (vegan sources), Olive Extract, Beta Carotene, Vitamin B12), seitan sausage (unbleached high-gluten flour, water, organic shoyu (organic whole soybeans, organic whole wheat, salt), organic brown sugar, potato starch, fennel seed, red pepper flakes, garlic, onion powder, black pepper, anise seed, dried sage, paprika), green pepper, red onion.
Top 9 Allergens: Wheat, Coconut, Soy
Price: $9.49
Pizza Oggi Plant-Based Pizza – Americana Review
Thoughts: We weren’t a fan of the crust on this one. The sauce was okay. Overall, comparing it to the other ones, it just didn’t stand up to the others. We did say that if we had bought this one we wouldn’t waste it, so we aren’t saying it’s so bad that we wouldn’t – it just wouldn’t be our first choice. There is another variety available.
Where to Buy: Pizza Oggi Store Locator

Alpha Plant-Based Pizza Supreme Review
Thoughts: This was basically a personal size pizza, meaning that it is very small. This one requested that you cook it in the microwave AND the oven, which we thought was odd. There is barely no sauce, and the ingredients are very dry. The crust was pretty good. For the size and the price, it’s just not good for us. There are other varieties available.

Mikey’s Plant Based Pockets – Cheese Pizza Review
Update: It appears this company is no longer in business as of November 2023.
Thoughts: We did not compare these to the other pizzas because we didn’t think it was fair, but thought it was cool to try these in the pizza video. There is a lot of filling inside of this which we liked. We said it tastes like a healthier version of traditional hot pockets. We liked the sauce, but the cheese is a little gummy. The crust was on the softer side which we didn’t like. Overall though, we liked these. There are other vegan varieties available – make sure to pick the vegan ones so be aware to look for the vegan logo.

Daiya Vegan Pizza Review – Gluten Free Crust and Vegetable Crust
Thoughts: We have had Daiya before. It is located in many places so it’s easy to find these. There are a lot of varieties of the Gluten-Free crust and the new vegetable crust comes in a few flavors.
For the gluten free crust – It has a nice crust, but very thin. The sauce is seasoned well. We did say that it seems like a little too much cheese because it because gloppy when too much is on.
For the vegetable crust – Larisha preferred the other crust, but Andrew liked this one better. The flavors of toppings were really good and it packed a lot of overall flavor.
Overall we really liked both of these pizzas from the brand.

Amy’s Vegan Margherita Pizza Review
Thoughts: The crust on this was much thicker than some of the others. We immediately noticed that the cheese seemed very oily and it is one of those that sticks to your mouth. Amy’s does make another vegan friendly pizza without any vegan cheese. We liked this one overall when it comes to comparing it to the others.

Whole Foods Market Hummus & Kale Pizza Review
Thoughts: We decided not to rank the two veggie pizzas with the rest because it just wasn’t a fair comparison. Larisha said that she didn’t care for the graininess of the hummus on the pizza, but Andrew said he liked this one better than the other veggie pizza. The flavors of this is great. There is no vegan cheese on this one.
Where to Buy: You can find this at Whole Foods

American Flatbread Vegan Harvest Pizza Review
Thoughts: This one had a nice crunch. There is barely any sauce and what we did taste was just a very muted flavor. There was a little weird aftertaste for Andrew with the cheese. You do have to thaw it out, then cook it for short time.

Clo-Clo Meatless Pepperoni Pizza Review
Thoughts: There are a lot of varieties for this brand that is completely vegan. The crust is overpowering with the cauliflower taste for us. The cheese on the pizza doesn’t taste well and doesn’t melt well either. Overall we aren’t a fan of this one especially since it’s the most expensive one that we tried in the whole video.
Where to Buy: These are available at Sprouts. We do not see a store locator on their site beyond that.
Clo-Clo Meatless Pepperoni Pizza Ingredients: Find the ingredient list here on their website.
Top Allergens: Coconut

Who was the winner?
Okay. I put you through all that just to make you wait until here until I announce the winner. You know, wait with baited breath, type of thing! HA!
Again, we were pleasantly surprised with all the brands we were able to find and what that means for the future of those of us that are vegan or living a dairy free lifestyle.
Now, without further ado!
Our top 3 brands (in order) would be:
- Blackbird
- Daiya (either)
- Amy’s
Do you agree with us? Have you tried any of these ? Tell us below!
Try one of these sides with your favorite sandwich with vegan pizza:
- Vegan Italian Pasta Salad
- Vegan Macaroni Salad
- Easy Vegan Broccoli Salad
- Grilled Vegan Mexican Street Corn
- Vegan Potato Salad

Agree with you wholeheartedly about the cheese on the Amy’s pizza sticking to your mouth. I found that very unappealing.
You said in the review “Amy’s does make another vegan friendly pizza without any vegan cheese.”. However, their Roasted Veggie” pizza DOES fit that category.

Thanks for the feedback

I used to be a die hard daiya fan (meatless meat lovers) but it seems, to me, about a year ago they changed their recipe– the sauce tasted different to me. So it’s no longer my fav– I’m obsessed with the Amy’s Margarita. It’s my go-to when I’m craving a good cheese pizza like I used to eat before I went vegan. Haven’t tried any of the other brands, yet 🙂 thanks for the reviews
