What vegan frozen breakfast brands did we try?
Despite trying out 6 different brands, we know that there are even more out there. We just didn’t find them local to us. The brands that we did find and try are:
- Amy’s
- Daiya
- Alpha
- Just
- Trader Joe’s
- Gardein
If we didn’t feature your favorite, let us know!
How did we do the vegan frozen breakfast taste test?
It was really quite simple.
We cooked each breakfast package according to the packaged instructions and then ate them as close to the finishing time as possible for the most accuracy.
We were looking for mostly taste and texture.
Alpha Vegan Breakfast Sandwich and Burrito Review
Thoughts: We both agree that Alpha has a superior taste and fun flavors compared to many of the others. However, just like our regular burrito taste test we also agreed that we would never purchase them again because of the filling to wrap ratio. It was almost like there were 3-4 wraps around some filling. If you watch the video we show that there are only 4-5 bites of filling per burrito. We didn’t like the Bac’n one at all.
As for the sandwiches, they remind us of something you’d get at a fast food restaurant. We like the original one far more than the chorizo one personally.

Amy’s Vegan Breakfast Review
Thoughts: We love Amy’s products, but these for us were not good. The tofu scramble bowl is the same tofu scramble in the burrito and we just didn’t like it. The hashbrowns are kind of mushy and just overall not enjoyable for us.

Trader Joe’s Tofu Scramble with Soy Chorizo Bowl
Thoughts: There’s nothing over the top about this, but there’s also nothing great about it either. Maybe with some add ins like salsa or avocado. It was better than the Amy’s, but not as good as the Gardein ones.

Daiya Vegan Breakfast Burritos Review
Thoughts: We have had Daiya before. We love the flavors; however, the wraps themselves we don’t particularly care for. Still they are the most available vegan burritos everywhere and because of that if you are looking for a burrito and can only find these, you can’t go wrong.

Who was the winner?
We actually didn’t rank these in any order. We liked some for a variety of reasons. We think the flavor of the Alpha ones is superior to all the other tastes; however, the filling to burrito ratio at $3-4 each is a complete turn off. While we love many of the Amy’s items, we didn’t care for either of the breakfast options for them. The Trader Joe’s bowl wasn’t anything special and we didn’t like the Just Egg bites. Daiya has a great taste in their burritos and a good wrap to filling ratio, however, we don’t particularly care for the texture of the wrap itself.
The Gardein bowls were overall our favorites.
Donna
Love your video presentations and the pictorial with the package, pricing, etc. I am tired of the trial and error portion of vegan cheeses, dairy, and faux meats. I have thrown out sp many prepackaged items as well as home cooked recipes in the last 4 months. My solution is to watch you two and go with your suggestions. And yes Jacob, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are added to most microwaved dishes. Keep doing what you do. Us vegan newbies sometimes need your “seasoned” advice.
