PSA:
We know that everyone has different taste buds. What we may think is the best, may completely vary from what you actually like.
You may ultimately think our best is the worst and that’s okay. We created this video as hopefully a starting point for people and we can only go off our opinion.
What vegan queso brands did we try?
The brands that we tried for this video are:
- Miyoko’s
- Whole Foods 365
- Kite Hill
- The Honest Stand
- Wayfare
- Siete
- Good Foods
We only remember trying one of these brands before. However, we had never tried any of them side by side with other brands which we believe is really important when it comes to taste testing.
How did we do the vegan cheese dip taste test?
We warmed each of the up and tasted them with tortilla chips. We used the same chips for each dip.
What are the vegan cheese dip brands?
365 Whole Foods Market Plant-Based Queso Review
Thoughts: It looks a little grainy to look at but that doesn’t come through when eating. We didn’t mild this one. Larisha said there’s a very strong chipotle flavor to this and Andrew said he thinks he tastes pumpkin, but wasn’t sure if that was because he read it on the ingredient list. It does has a kick to it.
Allergens: None listed.
Ingredients: Cooked Chickpeas (Water, Chickpeas), Pumpkin Puree, Water, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Diced Tomatoes (Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Citric Acid, Calcium Chloride), Green Chile Peppers (Green Chile Peppers, Calcium Chloride, Citric Acid, Salt, Sea Salt, Ground Flaxseed, Nutritional Yeast, Dried Onion, Chipotle Chile Pepper Powder, Garlic, Citric Acid, Jalapeno Powder, Beta Carotene (For Color).

Siete Dairy Free Queso Nacho and Blanco Review
Thoughts: We thought the Blanco was going to be similar to a Mexican restaurant style cheese, but it wasn’t for us. It’s a great dip, but it’s not the same that we wanted to go for. As for the Nacho cheese, it was great as a dip, but just not our favorite overall as it was missing the mark on some of the flavor.
Allergens: Coconut, Cashews (both)
Ingredients:
Nacho: Water, Cashews, Tomatoes, Carrots, Green Bell Peppers, Nutritional Yeast, Sea Salt, Distilled Vinegar, Flaxseed, Fermented Extract (Oregano, Flaxseed, Plum), Coconut Milk Powder, Lactic Acid, Onion Powder, Tomato Powder, Garlic Powder.
Blanco: Water, Cashews, Tomatoes, Green Bell Peppers, Nutritional Yeast, Onion, Jalapenos, Distilled White Vinegar, Sea Salt, Flaxseed, Fermented Extract (Oregano, Flaxseed, Plum), Coconut Milk Powder, Lactic Acid, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder.

The Honest Stand Classic Cheddar Plant Based Dip Review
Thoughts: This is a great dip, but it doesn’t taste like cheddar to us. It could be great as a chip dip or to put on baked potatoes or something, but not a cheddar.
According to The Honest Stands website, there is also a Plant Based Mild and Spicy Nacho Cheese and a Smoked Cheddar Dip
Allergens: Cashews
Ingredients: WATER, CASHEWS, CARROTS, YELLOW ONIONS, TAPIOCA STARCH, SEA SALT, SUNFLOWER LECITHIN, DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR, GARLIC POWDER, NATURAL FLAVORS, ANNATTO (FOR COLOR).
Price: $4.99

Kite Hill Queso Review
Thoughts: Neither of us cared for this queso. Andrew actually had to spit it out. There was a strong artificial taste. Larisha said it tasted like your grandma’s perfume was dumped into it and Andrew said it’s comparable to someone at Macy’s tried to feed you a perfume taster.
Allergens: Almonds, Coconut.
Ingredients: Almond Milk (Water, Almonds), Coconut Oil, Modified Corn Starch, Red Peppers, Tomato, Jalapeños, Salt, Yeast Extract, Natural Flavor, Capsicum, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Annatto (for color), Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Black Pepper, Black. Carrot Juice (for color), Cultures.

Good Foods Plant Based Queso Review
Thoughts: We liked this one. We didn’t think it wowed us, but it was great and we would buy it again.
According to their website there is also a Plant Based Spicy Queso Blanco.

Wayfare Dairy Free Cheddar Review
Thoughts: This had the best looking sauce. It appeared smooth and creamy before even tasting. This is an absolutely great vegan dip. It’s buttery and reminds you of the cheese on nachos at the movies or football games.
Wayfare does also have a Nacho Cheddar with Jalapenos.
Allergens: Coconut.
Ingredients: WayFare Dairy Free Base (Water, Organic Butter Beans, Organic Oats), Organic Coconut Oil, Sea Salt, Organic Gum Arabic, Nutritional Yeast, Natural Flavor, Cultured Dextrose, Konjac Root Powder, Organic Sunflower Lecithin, Organic Psyllium Husk Powder, Yeast Extract, Annatto and Caramel (For Color), Vitamin E

Miyoko’s Creamery Roadhouse Cheddar Review
Thoughts: This was very thick before warming and it stayed very thick and did not melt down when warmed. There was a very strong sour taste that Larisha got, but Andrew said that it was just a very sharp cheddar taste, close to the original. Once you get past that, it’s actually a nice cheese. Andrew actually ranked this and said he’d give it an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Allergens: Cashews, Coconut.
Ingredients: Organic Cashew Milk (Organic Cashews, Filtered Water), Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Rice Miso (Organic Rice, Water, Salt, Alcohol, Koji Culture), Contains Less Than 2% Of Nutritional Yeast, Sea Salt, Organic Yeast Extract, Organic Annatto For Color, Cultures, Natural Flavors.
Price: $6.99 per package

Who was the winner?
Overall with taste, you really can’t go wrong with any of them, except the Kite Hill for us, we just didn’t like it at all.
The Best Vegan Cheddar Dip
Wayfare is the winner for us, technically the best one out of the different brands we tried. Then the next would be the Miyikos for us.
The Best Vegan Queso Dip
The Good Foods and 365 Whole Foods were the top 2. But the Siete was still a great option we thought.
Heather Campbell
Awesome as always – I agree with you on Wayfare and Miyoko! Thanks for doing the leg work and saving us so much money! Before you came along I can’t tell how many products I have bought and had to throw out. Just made the vegan nacho sauce and my meat-eater husband said it was pretty good LOL.
How about taste testing Sophie’s kitchen products? I just bought two at Wegmans and haven’t opened them yet – so fingers are crossed that it’s ok.

Glad you found us! We have tried them in our vegan fish taste test – we aren’t fans
