Daiya Boxed Mac and Cheese Review

Daiya Cheddar Mac and Cheese Review

box label and nutritional information for daiya cheddar boxed mac and cheese on a table.

Daiya Cheddar Mac and Cheese Ingredients: Rice Pasta (White Rice, Brown Rice), Maltodextrin (Corn, Potato), Sea Salt, Corn Starch, Yeast Extract, Natural Flavor, Annatto and Paprika Extracts (Color), Sunflower Lecithin, Torula Yeast, Spice.

Thoughts: This one didn’t taste very cheddar-y to us and more oily than what we would have liked. It was our least favorite out of the three products.

Allergens: There are no Top 9 Allergens listed in the products.

Daiya White Cheddar Mac and Cheese Review

box label and nutritional information for daiya white cheddar boxed mac and cheese on a table.

Daiya White Cheddar Mac and Cheese Ingredients: Rice Pasta (White Rice, Brown Rice), Tapioca Maltodextrin, Sea Salt, Corn Starch, Yeast Extract, Pea Flour, Natural Flavor, Lactic Acid, Calcium Lactate, Annatto Extract (Color).

Thoughts: This one had a much better taste. Honestly, we prefer the Kraft x Notco White Cheddar box mac and cheese, however, we’d still buy this one if it was the only option. It still had an overall good taste and more of a cheesy taste than the regular cheddar.

Allergens: There are no Top 9 Allergens listed in the products.

Overall Thoughts

There’s a few things that we want to call out.

  • We really enjoy these Daiya boxed mac and cheese options compared to their liquid cheese mac and cheese options. The flavor of the cheese is much better.
  • The gluten free pasta was better than other gluten free options but you could still taste a chewiness to it that most gluten free pasta have.
  • The aged cheddar was our favorite and probably the only one we’d buy on a consistent basis.
  • The price is comparable to other vegan boxed mac and cheese brands.
  • We love that Daiya is expanding their line and seemingly listening to what customers want and only improving in the years that we’ve been vegan.

  1. This product is now useless – used to be a real go to for me with my gluten/casein free child – the box says gluten and dairy free but in order to prepare it you need butter and milk – dishonest advertising – stay away – it went from a great product to a waste of money

    1. Hi Maryanne – Daiya did update their recipe/product from the time we did this review. The new box ingredients does say to add butter and milk with an * that says “we recommend unsweetened dairy-free milk and dairy-free butter”. Daiya is a 100% vegan company. Hope this helps
