You could say “easy desserts” are my middle name. I love a quick, one bowl, sweet treat. Not only do I not feel guilt about the clean up, but I usually have all the ingredients on hand too!

It still shocks me how something this easy can taste so good. If you always want a simple and sweet recipe, then this vegan mousse fudge will hit the spot!

Luckily for us (you and me) this vegan chocolate mousse fudge is one of the easiest dessert recipes out there.  In fact, it’s so easy, I almost hate calling it a recipe….almost.  It’s soft, decadent, and totally crave-able.

I love saying it’s a mix between rich dense fridge and a silky chocolate mousse. All I know is you can skip turning on the oven and have a delicious dessert in no time!

Why You’ll Love Vegan Fudge

  • Flavor – This is melt in your mouth pure chocolate sweetness. One bite and you’re in flavor heaven!
  • Prep Ahead – Got something coming up that you need a dessert for? This is perfect! You can make it up to 5 days in advance OR freeze it for up to 3 months!
  • Easy- I’m not recommending doing anything else difficult or time consuming. This whips together in under 10 minutes and ready after setting in the fridge for a few hours. It’s so simple.

What is vegan fudge made of? (Vegan fudge ingredients):

Gather your ingredients!

Dairy free chocolate

You can use meltable dairy free chocolate – chips or bars will both work for this recipe.

Dairy free butter

Fudge need oil and this is where you get a buttery richness that pairs perfectly with the other ingredients.

Powdered sugar

This is acting not only as a sweetener, but also helps thicken the mixture and bind all the ingredients together.

Vanilla

See my recipe card below for a complete list of the ingredients with measurements.

Substitutions:

We don’t recommend making any changes to this recipe; however if you want a peanut butter version then you can make our vegan peanut butter fudge that’s also 4 ingredients.

The Best Vegan Fudge Variations

  • Salted: Get some flakey salt and sprinkle on top once set. It’s something so simple, but adds a delicious salty and sweet component.
  • Nutella: Use a vegan nutella or blend up hazelnuts to a peanut butter like consistency and fold in. Replace ¼ cup of the butter with one of these options.
  • Caramel: Once set drizzle homemade vegan caramel across the top of the fudge.
  • Peanut Butter: Replace ¼ cup of the butter with creamy peanut butter. Mix in when adding the softened vegan butter.
  • Peppermint: Add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to the fudge when adding the vanilla. Level it up by sprinkle crushed peppermint candy on top once set.
  • Dried Berries: Chocolate and berries are a match made in heavy. Crush dried raspberries or strawberries and sprinkle on top once set for a delicious fudge.
  • Nutty: Stir in ¼ to ½ cup of walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, or peanuts once your batter is mixed together before pouring into your pan.
  • Rocky Road: Fold in ½ cup of vegan mini marshmallows (or chop our homemade vegan marshmallows into tiny cubes), ¼ cup chopped almonds or peanuts. We like to level it up with some vegan chocolate chips too.

Tips for Success:

  • Refrigerate: Homemade fudge tends to melt, so it’s best that you store it in the fridge when not consuming. This will also help to keep the texture firm.
  • Yes, you need that much sugar. Listen I understand it’s a lot, but we are making a dessert and fudge needs powdered sugar that can’t be replaced in this particular recipe.
  • For the smoothest fudge: sift your powdered sugar and use a hand mixer. Both will help you get the desired results.
  • Choose your pan wisely: A standard bread loaf pan is 8.5×4.5inches. This will give a great size fudge – not to thin or thick. Alternatively, an 8×8 will also work. The smaller or bigger your pan or dish is will determine the thickness of your fudge.
  • Use binder clips to hold down your parchment paper. Parchment paper helps ensure that the fudge can pop out easier; however, it can move around a lot when trying to spread into an even layer. I use binder clips (like for papers) to hold down my parchment paper on each side and it works perfectly!
  • Chocolate matters! Even if you hate dark chocolate, using a 65-75% dark chocolate is best for this recipe to balance out the sweetness of all the sugar. This creates a sweet, but not overly sweet recipe. If you really want to amp up the sweetness, then go for semi-sweet chocolate.
