VEGAN DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOK SKILLET INGREDIENTS:

Below are notes about the ingredients before we get into the full recipe located lower in this post on how to make this easy vegan cookie skillet:

  • Vegan Butter – When making cookies, butter is the fat needed for a chewy texture. But beyond that it also helps act as a leavening agent, provides moisture, and a soft texture.
  • Brown Sugar – there is molasses in brown sugar that helps with both moisture and chewiness of the cookies which is why you usually see it added in addition to just normal sugar
  • Vegan Cane Sugar – Cane sugar is what we are using for sweetness and moisture. If you want to learn more about why your sugar may not be vegan, you can learn more by clicking on the link.
  • Applesauce – Fruit puree, like applesauce, is a great way to replace the eggs that are in traditional cookies.
  • Flour – A must need! We used all-purpose flour here.
  • Cocoa Powder – The first part of making the double chocolate is to make the batter itself chocolate and cocoa powder does the trick
  • Vegan Chocolate Chips – There are more and more options available now! We like doing a mix of dark and semi-sweet

SUBSTITUTIONS AND VARIATIONS:

  • Vegan Butter – The flavor that you get from using vegan butter can’t be found otherwise; however, you can still have a great vegan skillet cookie by swapping the vegan butter for a neutral oil like vegetable or refined coconut oil. If you are oil free, you could replace with more applesauce; however, the texture will be different and may be more dense.
  • Sugar – While we haven’t changed it up, you could use coconut sugar or date sugar, maybe swap some for maple syrup or date syrup.
  • Applesauce – You can use any fruit puree besides apple sauce. Just be mindful of the taste difference. Flax egg could also be used.
  • Flour – A gluten free 1:1 blend can be used instead.
  • Vegan Chocolate Chips – You could only do semi-sweet or even through in some white chocolate chips or a crushed up bar.

    Best Friend!
I say it in every review–I’ve never had a disappointing MIDF recipe. This was delicious and it made a lot too! My family of four devoured it in a weekend. I used Bob’s 1-to-1 gluten free flour.

This is delicious and I made it gluten free with Bob’s Red Mill GF flour. I recently went through food allergy testing and while I am not Vegan I jabe found so much comfort in vegan recipes and this site that is so attentive to allergens such as gluten and soy (jist two of the many on my lengthy list. All of this complicated further by Ppst COVID having a hay day with my sense of taste and smell. You two have become a blessing and a reason to laugh along woth while you taste test EVERYTHING!!

my family has graciously walked along side my difficult food journey and tried a few things with me so I don’t feel so alone. Everyone asked for the recipe and were sad when it was all gone. I am trying the lemon cake next

Kudos froends!! Keep up the fantastic work :I turn on your channel like most people tuen on the tv 🙂
