Walmart is the #1 grocery in America. Which likely means that you have a store close to you. Today we are sharing some of the best vegan finds at Walmart.
In fact, 90% of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart, so the chances are that you will be able to find some of these products.
For the last 2 years especially, Walmart has been increasing the amount of their vegan products. For a good reason, plant based food products are increasing at a rate of 5x more than other food sales.
Being the number one grocer means that in order to meet demand and keep up with sales, they need to offer an extensive range of vegan goods.
While our personal opinion is that they have a long way to go to keep up with the offerings of Whole Foods, Sprouts, and even Trader Joe’s, they are increasing rapidly and it will be fun to see where it goes over the next few years.
Walmart allows for people to shop vegan affordably all while staying vegan.

How did you find vegan products at Walmart?
Our primary source was our own knowledge of vegan brands.
Another way is the Walmart store itself. In the produce section of most stores, there is a small section of packaged goods that are usually vegan. Be careful as some are vegetarian. This is usually where you will find tofu, vegan refrigerated meats and cheeses and some more finds depending on your store.
Lastly, we looked at items that appeared that they would be vegan and double checked the labels.
Can I use Walmart pickup for vegan food?
Absolutely! In fact, it’s one of the greatest things to happen in 2020. Yes, we know that pick-up was available prior to 2020, but it has helped so much.
Unlike Instacart, Walmart pickup doesn’t charge any fees. There is a $35 minimum order.
What’s cool about the Walmart pickup is that when you are searching for things to add to your cart you can simply type in “vegan” to the search bar and it will list many vegan items that are available at the store.
We have found that not every vegan items available in the store will show up on the app; however, it’s enough that you can add so many great things to your next shopping list without ever having to set foot in the store.

Top Vegan Finds at Walmart
Produce and Staples
Walmart has great prices on not only prices but staples that are traditional vegan as well.
They have a growing organic line of produce as well.
You can find berries, fruit, vegetables, lettuces, herbs and more.
In addition you can find all your normal natural vegan products like frozen and canned vegetables and fruits, rice, dried beans, vegetable stocks, and more.
Dairy aisle finds
There will be no traditional milk, butter, or creamers, but that’s ok. Walmart has a variety of plant based alternatives. At Walmart you can find:
- almond milk
- soy milk
- coconut milk
- rice milk
- dairy free creamers
- plant based butters
- dairy free yogurts
Usually for these things, they have their own section. Meaning that all the plant based milks will be in one area of the dairy fridges.
Frozen finds
There are so many frozen finds and it’s only growing. In most of our local stores there are entire sections of 4-5 doors full of vegan finds. Usually these items will be next to the frozen vegetables.
However, there will also be vegan desserts and ice creams that have it’s own section near the other ice creams.
Some things to look for are:
- vegan burgers
- Morningstar products
- not that not all Morningstar Farms products are vegan, some are vegetarian, so double check the labels. Try their nuggets!
- Gardein products
- Especially if you are a new vegan, Gardein is great. They make an all vegan line and there are so many great swaps like vegan grilled chicken strips, beefless crumbles, and other meat substitutes.
- Burritos (Amys and Daiya brands)
- Daiya frozen pizza
- and more.
As with most of the sections in Walmart, sometimes vegan and vegetarian products are mixed in with each other so always double check the labels.
Snacks
Definitely hit up the snack aisles. Most chips are vegan but always double check the labels. Things like Doritos Sweet Chili flavor is accidentally vegan in addition to finding things like Gardein’s new beefless jerky.
Asian, Hispanic, and International Food Aisles
Always, always, always double check these aisles. You can find so many good things.
Ocean’s Halo, for example, is a vegan line that has ramen noodles, broth, seaweed, dressings and sauces that will aid to any meals you are creating.
Baking Aisle
Most spices are vegan (again always double check) so definitely grab those, but also vegan bone char free sugar is available as well and Walmart increasing their lines of flour to include almond, cassava, coconut and more.
Not only that but their new Top 8 Free Organic line of chocolate chips features dark, semi-sweet and white chocolate that is all vegan friendly so be sure to check those out.
You can also find things like goji berry powder, beetroot powder, coconut oil, maple syrup and so much more down the baking aisle.
Making baking mixes like cake and brownie mixes are naturally vegan you just need to swap the eggs for applesauce or flax egg.
We’ve even found sprinkles and candy eyes that are free from confectioner’s glaze making them vegan friendly as well.
We hope you are able to find these products and so much more when you are shopping at Walmart on your next trip!
