Frequently Asked Questions

Can this strawberry and avocado salsa be Top 8 Allergen Free?

This recipe is already Top 8 Allergen Free as written.

Can I prep this ahead?

Our strawberry and avocado salsa does well when you allow the flavors to merry together for a few hours before eating; however, it’s best consumed within 24 hours and then after 72 hours it’s still edible but the flavors have broken down a lot by then.

Can I freeze this?

We do not recommend freezing this strawberry and avocado salsa.

Can I make this salsa spicy?

Yes! Add some diced fresh jalapenos to the salsa to give it a spicier taste. You can add a tablespoon up to a full jalapeno depending on how spicy you like it.

*Make sure if you don’t like things too spicy that you remove the ribs and seeds of the jalapeno before dicing.

Can I swap the lime juice for lemon juice?

Lime and lemon juice have similar yet distinct flavor profiles. While we highly recommend you choose lime juice, you can swap for lemon if that’s all you have on hand.

Can I use a different onion than red onions?

Red onions work best in salsa because of their mild taste and crunch and they hold up well when the juices from the strawberries and lime juice come together.

If you don’t have red onions, we’d recommend yellow onions. White onions could also be used but they have a very distinct onion taste and you may want to reduce the amount you use so it doesn’t overpower the dish.

How do I make sure my avocado won’t brown?

The lime juice will ensure that the avocado doesn’t brown when mixed together.

How do you use strawberry and avocado salsa?

It’s salsa, so naturally you may think tortilla chips, and you’re right. Serving this right alongside some tortilla chips is perfect. If you want even more of a twist, try some cinnamon tortilla chips with this unique vegan salsa.

However, if you’re looking for even more ways to use it, we’ve got you covered. Here’s some of our favorite ways:

  • on toast
  • with some seitan or grilled vegan chicken strips
  • add to your next salad
  • use as a topping on your next vegan burger or vegan fish sandwich

What ways can you think of how to use it?

Is strawberry and avocado salsa healthy?

Yes! With the mixture of strawberries and lime juice, this is packed with healthy nutrients like Vitamin C and A.

When combined with avocado, you have a healthy fat option that makes this a well rounded healthy condiment alternative.
