Morningstar NEW products Review
Morningstar Chik’n Fries Pringles Flavored Review
Morningstar Chick’n Fries Pringles Flavored Ingredients: Water, soy protein concentrate, vegetable oil (corn, canola and/or sunflower), enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, vitamin B1 [thiamin mononitrate], vitamin B2 [riboflavin], folic acid), potato chips (potatoes, canola and/or sunflower oil), modified food starch, soy protein isolate. Contains 2% or less of salt, yellow corn flour, wheat gluten, methylcellulose, wheat flour, potato starch, rice starch, fructose, natural flavors, potassium salt, pea protein, sugar, palm oil, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), yeast extract, mono- and diglycerides, distilled vinegar, pea hull fiber, yeast, dextrose, paprika extract color.
Allergens: Soy, wheat.
Thoughts: This product tastes like other Morningstar Chick’n products. The Pringles part seems gimmicky to us in that you can’t really taste the Pringles at all and it’s no difference to us.
We do enjoy Morningstar products and enjoyed these overall, but the difference with the Pringles is not there.
What does Morningstar Pringles Chick’n Fries look like?
We cooked these in the oven per the recommended instructions and they came out crispy. There’s a nice thick, crispy coating on the outside of these with a well balanced center.
You want to be careful not to overcook them.
Morningstar Chick’n Eggo Liege Style Waffle Sandwich Review
Morningstar Chick’n Eggo Liege Style Waffle Sandwich Ingredients: Plant based chik’n patty (water, wheat flour, soy protein isolate, wheat gluten, vegetable oil [corn, canola and/or sunflower], yellow corn flour, wheat starch, sugar, maltodextrin, salt, dextrose, yeast extract, spices, tapioca starch, cornstarch, natural flavors, leavening [sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate], color added, paprika color, onion powder, yeast, paprika extract color, garlic powder, citric acid, potassium salt, xanthan gum), plant based Liége style waffle (wheat flour, water, shortening [soybean oil, mono- and diglycerides], pearl sugar, invert sugar, wheat gluten, plant based egg [soy flour, wheat gluten, corn syrup solids, sodium alginate], sugar, salt, yeast, soy lecithin, natural flavors, turmeric and annatto extract for color).
Allergens: Soy, Wheat.
Thoughts: We did not try these in the video above because we had tried them first. We cooked in the microwave according to the preferred method on the instructions.
We found them to be a bit dry, but overall it’s a nice product that could use the help with some non-dairy cheese and condiments if you aren’t traveling and have access to them.
They are really small. It says two in a package, but one is about the size of half a sandwich.
Morningstar Pancake & Sausage on a Stick Review
Morningstar Pancake & Sausage on a Stick Ingredients: Water, wheat flour, wheat gluten, sugar, vegetable oil (corn, canola and/or sunflower). Contains 2% or less of dextrose, salt, soy protein isolate, maltodextrin, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), methylcellulose, brown sugar, natural flavors, yeast extract, fruit juice for color, carrageenan, spices, yeast, soy flour, potato flour, modified corn starch, xanthan gum, onion powder, soy sauce (water, soybeans, salt, wheat).
Morningstar Pancake & Sausage on a Stick Blueberry Ingredients: Water, wheat flour, wheat gluten, sugar, vegetable oil (corn, canola and/or sunflower). Contains 2% or less of dextrose, salt, soy protein isolate, methylcellulose, maltodextrin, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), brown sugar, natural flavors, yeast extract, fruit juice for color, carrageenan, spices, wheat starch, yeast, soy flour, potato flour, modified corn starch, xanthan gum, carrot juice for color, blueberries, onion powder, soy sauce (water, soybeans, salt, wheat), blueberry juice for color, cornstarch, citric acid.
Allergens: Wheat, Soy.
Thoughts: This may be one of our favorite things Morningstar has came out with, especially recently.
The pancake portion is so soft and fluffy. And the sausage part tastes really good! Together the combo just really works, even if you don’t have any syrup.
We preferred the original over the Blueberry simply because the blueberry taste overpowers the flavor of the sausage; however, the blueberry pancake flavor itself is really good!
What do Morningstar pancake sausage sticks look like cooked?
They look just like a corn dog, or similar non-vegan products. There was no difference in texture or physical appearance.
Overall Thoughts
There’s a few things that we want to call out.
- The Pringles Chick’n Fries seems gimmicky and not any different than their other products.
- We enjoyed the Chick’n and Waffle sandwich overall, but it’s small and can be dry. Ideally it needs the help of condiments and/or non-dairy cheese.
- We really enjoyed the Pancake and Sausage products. Probably our favorite thing Morningstar has launched in awhile. The original flavor is our preferred flavor.
- We’d love to see Morningstar launch some vegan pancakes or waffles for more options for vegan breakfasts on the go.
