What do Morningstar Riblets looked like cooked?

cooked packages on morningstar farms riblets on a table with the words on the left saying microwave and words on the right saying oven method.

There are two cooking methods listed on the package. One gives microwave instructions, while the other gives the oven method, which is also the preferred method according to the manufacturer.

The oven method takes longer; however, the quality of the product is better with the oven method and we would recommend utilizing this method as well.

Overall Thoughts

There’s a few things that we want to call out.

  • We really enjoyed these. They were not out when we went vegan and we never had them prior to that.
  • We would definitely buy again, but at the price point, it wouldn’t be a regular occurrence for us.
  • The stores in our area only appear to have the Sweet BBQ version, but the Morningstar Farms website does like a Korean BBQ flavor on their site that we hope to try in the future.
  • The riblets box has two servings. Each serving is 3 “boneless ribs”.

  1. The Korean BBQ *is* available–I got them both at the same time. They were about $9 (way too expensive) compared to the old price from before the product was pulled. (And I swear that was 20 years ago–I ate them in the apartment I had before my home purchase in 2005!).

We have one larger big box grocery store that I found with them (no others in the same grocery store chain). It was Giant Eagle – Market District in Westlake, OH. The Sweet BBQ flavor was great. The Korean was too spicy for me–the spice was too overpowering. I like my spice MILD. I like my BBQ sweet.

I wouldn’t buy either again for the price or portion size. I’m better off making homemade BBQ seitan or a TVP dish, or getting any number of BBQ seitan products from the Asian market that are the same price or even higher but are better.

    1. Understand about the price. Unfortunately, the Korean one still isn’t popping up yet where we are
