What ingredients do you need to make vegan garlic bread?

This vegan garlic bread is super easy to make and needs just a few ingredients.  Most of the ingredients you likely already have on hand. Nothing is hard to find or difficult to use, which is why this is an even better dairy free recipe to make!

    • unsalted dairy free butter
    • garlic Loaf of French or Italian bread (baguette would also work)
    • garlic powder
    • Italian seasoning
    • salt
    • pepper
    • vegan parmesan cheese
    • fresh parsley

Just a few ingredients stand in between you and a delicious dairy free garlic bread recipe.

How do you make vegan garlic bread?

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. You can make this dairy free garlic bread in just a few minutes. Start by adding melted butter with minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, vegan parmesan cheese, salt and pepper into a bowl.  Stir until very well combined.

Cut a loaf of French or Italian bread in half lengthwise.  Brush the garlic butter mixture over the bread evenly.  Place cut side up on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until turning golden brown on top and crunchy around the edges. Remove from heat and top with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warmed.

Can I make this Top 8 Allergy Friendly Garlic Bread?

Yes! We always recommend double checking to ensure that the bread you are getting is free from dairy ingredients.

For Gluten Free – While we recommend using a regular Italian or French loaf of bread for this vegan garlic bread recipe, there’s no reason that you can’t use your favorite gluten free bread.  You could even spread the mixture across 4-6 slices of your favorite bread if you don’t have a gluten free bakery near you to get a loaf of bread.

Soy Free – We always use Earth Balance soy free butter (in the red tub) so there’s no concern for soy.  And our recipes are always dairy free.

Nut free – Our vegan Parmesan cheese recipe can be made with sunflower seeds instead of cashews to make nut free.

With these simple steps, you can have Top 8 Free Garlic Bread.

Should I use fresh or jarred garlic for vegan garlic bread?

Freshly minced garlic will always be best for this recipe. There is a noticeable taste difference between the two.

Can I make this vegan cheesy garlic bread?

Yes!  Just add your favorite cheese on top after brushing the mixture on to the bread.

Can I freeze this vegan garlic bread?

Yes! Maybe you want to double up the recipe and keep some on hand or maybe you are just cooking for one or two and you know you’ll never finish both sides of the loaf of bread.

Make the recipe as directed.  Let the loaf cool, and place in a freezer container or bag.  When ready to eat, warm in the oven at 350 just until warmed throughout (about 5 minutes). Best to consume within 3 months of placing in freezer.

*Note: if making this into vegan cheesy garlic bread, do not add the cheese until reheating.

So good. I made a half recipe but only used it on a shorter section of bread and covered both sides of the halved French bread. Used the quick cashew Parmesan recipe from Minimalist Baker. The only garlic bread recipe I’ve tried and have no desire to try another as this is a winner. Thanks!
