We tried the new Nathan’s Vegan Hot Dogs and today we are giving a full recap in our Nathan’s Vegan Hot Dogs Review.
Nathan’s is the infamous hot dog brand that has been around for decades. Literally, since 1916. However, for vegans this is the first decade that they will be able to grab a vegan version of those iconic hot dogs. Let’s tell you everything that you need to know in this Nathan’s Vegan Hot Dogs Review.
Last month (April 2021), we saw a VegNews article, announcing that Nathan’s was releasing its first ever vegan hot dog.
Nathan’s meatless hot dog was actually a partnership with The Meatless Farm company. Their hot dog paired with Nathan’s more than a century old seasoning spice blend. It’s sound like perfection right?
Today, we’ll go over cost, ingredients, nutritional information and more. Plus, there’s a full video review and taste test where you can see our first initial reaction to tasting them.
Disclaimer: At the time of this post, only the 6 pack meal kit was available which is not vegan. We reached out to Nathan’s to see if we could purchase just the meatless hot dogs for our taste test, to which they offered to send for free, knowing we’d give our truthful opinion.

*Note: This is how the Nathan’s meatless hot dogs were sent to us. There are no labels or nutritional information on the package. We had to confirm this information via communication with their team and their website.
What ingredients are in Nathan’s Vegan Hot Dogs?
The ingredients in the plant based Nathan’s hot dogs are: water, pea protein, tapioca starch, canola oil, natural flavors, salt, spices, dextrose, dried garlic, unflower oil, paprika, hydrolyzed corn protein, smoke powder, red lake #40, lecithin, guar gum, xanthum gum, methyl cellulose, pea protein isolate, pea concerntrate, pea fiber, cultured dextrose, Nathan’s famous spice.
Are Nathan’s Vegan Hot Dogs Top 8 Allergen Free?
Yes! There are no known Top 8 Allergens in the Nathan’s meatless hot dogs.
While not top 8 allergens, these Nathan’s plant based hot dogs do contain pea protein, corn, and sunflowers, which we know other people may react too.
Additionally, these hot dogs contain red lake #40 which is a red food dye which many people avoid.
Are Nathan’s meatless hot dogs healthy?
While these hot dogs are less processed than a traditional hot dog, they are still a processed food that should be consumed sparingly. Whether or not they are healthy, would depend on your current health goals and needs. They are made up of mostly plants and spices which aid in them being healthier than a meat-based hot dog; however, they do still contain oil and other less natural based ingredients.
What are the nutritional facts for Nathan’s plant based hot dogs?
There are no nutritional facts on Nathan’s website; nor on the packaging that was sent; however, we did reach out to try

How do Nathan’s meatless hot dogs taste?
The overall taste of Nathan’s meatless hot dogs is great. It’s surely one of the closest to what we remember meat based hot dogs being. The color is also closer than any other hot dogs that we remember.
That being said, the texture is way off. We compared it to an under cooked carrot hot dog that needed to roast a bit longer. We believe that Meatless Farm and Nathan’s were trying to give it a snap, but what ended up happening was a vegan hot dog that is just over firm and not close to the classic Nathan’s texture.
How can you buy vegan Nathan’s hot dogs?
Currently, the only way to purchase Nathan’s meatless hot dogs is to order via their Shopify site here.
Please note that the 6pack kit is NOT vegan. The Nathan’s buns contain dairy. What you want to purchase is the 12 pack Nathan’s vegan hot dogs. It is $40 for 12 hot dogs. Shipping and Taxes are not included in the purchase price. What we found for our location was shipping was just over $7 and taxes were another $3+. So the actual price is closer to $50+ for 12 hot dogs.
Starting in May 2021, Nathan’s meatless hot dogs will be available in their restaurants; however, from our communication with the Nathan’s team, there will NOT be vegan buns available. It will be the same standard buns that contain butter.
There are no plans besides the online and in restaurant sales at this time.
