This Dairy Free Strawberry Banana Smoothie is absolutely delicious. A huge hit for everyone who tries this classic vegan smoothie recipe.
Whether or not you like smoothies, one of the first smoothies you likely tried was a strawberry banana smoothie. It’s an iconic flavor combination and one of the easiest to make. However, many strawberry banana smoothies use milk and even yogurt in it.
Luckily, it’s really easy to make a dairy free strawberry banana smoothie that tastes just as great as any other one you may have tried before going dairy free. Or, if you’ve been dairy free your entire life, then this will taste just as good as you may imagine one that isn’t dairy free to taste. Bonus, if you’re vegan, it’s a completely vegan strawberry banana smoothie as well.

What ingredients do you need to make this strawberry banana smoothie?
As with most smoothies, you don’t need that many ingredients to make a great dairy free strawberry banana smoothie. In fact, you just need six. We do add cashews to this strawberry banana smoothie because we love the taste of it; however, if you have a nut allergy, feel free to remove them. The ingredients that you need to make this vegan strawberry banana smoothie are:
- Strawberries
- Banana
- Dairy Free Yogurt
- Dairy Free Almond Milk (use non-nut milk if nut allergy)
- Cashews
- Maple Syrup
We do prefer plain almond yogurt; however, if you would prefer add in a non-dairy strawberry banana yogurt for more flavor.
How do you make a dairy free strawberry banana smoothie?
Inside of a blender, you are going to add all your ingredients. We love our high powdered Vitamix because of the ability to really blend the ingredients; however our second favorite blender that is well within most people’s price range is this Ninja Professional Kitchen System (watch it for sales, it’s frequently ran for $99).
The most preferred way to add ingredients to a blender in order to preserve the blades is to add liquid, dry, then frozen ingredients on top. This way, by the time the blades come in contact with frozen ingredients, it has already started blending a good amount of your dairy free strawberry banana smoothie.
SHOULD I USE FROZEN OR FRESH FRUIT TO MAKE THIS DAIRY FREE STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE?
Honestly, either fresh or frozen fruit will work in this dairy free strawberry banana smoothie. Most people prefer to drink cold smoothies, and because of that will typically add ice. Ice, however, is just frozen water, so by adding ice, it has a tendency to dilute the flavor profile of this dairy free strawberry banana smoothie. One way to combat diluting it, is to add a frozen banana and/or strawberries. This way your smoothie still gets cold, but without essentially adding water to it.
