What ingredients do you need to make vegan buttercream frosting?
It’s almost as easy as pulling out the ingredients! There are a few steps.
First, you want to make your strawberry puree by blending the fresh strawberries into a food processor or mixer. Blend until small bits remain.
Then in a mixing bowl, add the dairy free butter. Your butter needs to be cold for this to work well. Cream the butter just until it starts to break apart.
Add in half the powdered sugar and beat again. Then, add in the puree and extract. Beat again. Once that is incorporated, add in the remaining powdered sugar and blend again. Then, you’re done. Use right away or store in an air tight container that you place in the fridge.
Can I make this Top 8 Allergen Free Strawberry Buttercream Frosting?
Yes! Luckily because this recipe is only 4 ingredients, there isn’t room for a lot of allergens to enter. The only ingredient in this recipe that would pose a problem is the vegan butter. Obviously butter can have dairy in it, but also dairy free butters often have soy also.
We combat this issue by using a soy free, dairy free butter. Our favorite is Earth Balance soy free. It comes in a red tub or sticks.

I don’t have strawberry extract—could I make this without it or substitute vanilla extract?

You won’t get as strong of a strawberry taste without it, but you can omit or do vanilla
