Must Have Tools for Vegan Grilling
Yoshi Copper Grill Mats – We absolutely love these mats. We’ve had them for a few years now and they really help to make sure things don’t fall through the grates, making clean up a breeze! It’s also perfect if you are making things like veggie burgers that can fall apart on the grill if too soft.
Veggie Grill Bags – You can throw veggies into the bags and then just have to flip the bag. It makes rotating and turning a breeze, especially for smaller pieces of things like cauliflower or cut potatoes.
Veggie Grill Basket – Alternatively to the bags, you can use a grill basket. This helps to make sure that things stay together and great for moving smaller items around.
Burger Master Patty Shaper – This silicone tray perfectly forms 8 veggie burgers to the same size making grilling burgers a breeze. You’ll love how easy and simple it is to make burgers with this.
Char-broil Grill Accessories Tool Kit – If there’s one thing that you buy for your grill, you need an accessories tool kit and we love the comfort grip on these tools. A spatula and tongs for flipping easily and perfectly and the basting brush for smearing homemade bbq sauce over everything.
Reusable Skewers – If you are vegan, you are also most likely somewhat Earth conscious. Having reusable things and reducing waste is always beneficial. We love stainless steel skewers because they are so easy to clean too. Add some seasoned tofu and veggies and you are good to go! Make sure to use gloves to flip!
Grill Gloves – We’ll be honest in that we usually just use whatever mitts we have on hand, but if you plan to cook at extreme temps, then you are going to likely want a pair of grill gloves to more things around. Especially if you are doing things on an open fire and not a gas grill.
Pizza Stone – We love grilling pizza. Pizza should be cooked at high temp and doing that inside during the summer means your house is super hot now. Moving it outside to the grill keeps all that heat outside, but it also gives some of those grill flavors that just can’t be beat. A square or rectangular pizza stone is great to make sure that it fits on your grill; however, most round stones also usually fit as well.
Cast Iron Skillet – A cast iron skillet can go directly onto the grill which makes great even cooking, especially for things that you want to be extra saucy or when you want to make a dessert outside.
Smoker Box – Smoking isn’t just for meats. Indirect heating and smoking of vegetables is just as amazing. For more grills you will need a smoker box to place your wood chips in.
Other Must Have Cooking Tools for Vegan Grilling
These are things that will be helpful to have around, but aren’t necessarily specific to grilling.
Knife Block Set – If you are an experienced chef, then you’d likely recommend just having 3 or 4 speciality knives that cost a lot more than this simple knife block set that is perfect for most homes and much more affordable.
Kid’s Knife Set – if you have kids, we’d also recommend having a set of Curious Chef kids’ knives. We’ve used these for 5 years and they are perfect for letting little ones help in the kitchen without fear of sharper knives.
Measuring Cups and Spoons – If you are doing any sort of baking you need to measure properly the ingredients.
Mixing Bowls – There’s nothing worse than not finding the right size mixing bowl whether you are baking or making a large salad. We linked ones with lids because they double as storage which everyone can use.
Spatulas – So many uses! But a must have in any kitchen. If you are new to the kitchen a full set of kitchen utensils may be more beneficial.
Tofu press – If you eat tofu and you don’t have a tofu press, then this needs to be the first thing you grab off our list! No more trying to figure out wrapping the tofu with something and then placing enough heavy items on top. This tofu press makes it easy and quick for you to get all the water out.
Kitchen Scale – Whether you are converting measurements or you need evenly size dough pieces and so much more, we use our kitchen scale way more than we would have ever thought.
Lemon/Lime Squeezer – We use a lot of lemons and limes, but the acid doesn’t always agree with our hands, plus it’s just hard to squeeze sometimes. A citrus squeezers makes getting the fresh juice a breeze.
Zester – Speaking of lemons and limes, if you do a lot of cooking or baking with them then you likely need zest. Grab one! We like this one because the zest stays in the little container attached to it and doesn’t go everywhere.
Grater – You could opt for just this and skip the grater, but we do have both. Grating blocks of vegan cheese versus buying the shreds tends to have them melt easy (these no anti-caking agent is one reason why). But we use it for a lot more.
Can Opener – Even if you use dried beans a lot, there’s probably still a lot of use of cans. A nice can opener is a must.
Peeler – A good peeler goes for so much more than just potatoes. And we use ours a lot! We like this one because it has more than one function.
Glass storage containers – Not only are these great for meal prepping and storage, but the glasses containers are easier to wash and don’t leak, and make it easier to see what’s inside. Comes as a set of 5. Other sizes available.
