Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I make this a Top 8 Allergen Free copycat Chipotle Guacamole?
The recipe as written is already free of all Top 8 Allergen and more. It’s naturally gluten free and only uses fresh produce and spices.
Is Chipotle Guacamole oil free?
Yes! We know that many vegans are oil free. Luckily, there are no oils included in this recipe! So no need to change anything.
How long does this copycat Chipotle guacamole last?
This vegan guacamole recipe will last 2-4 days in the fridge. There is lemon and lime juice in the recipe to help with some of the browning from avocados, but it will not completely hinder it. Just stir together, no need to discard the discoloration.
You can make a half batch if that is better for your needs.
Why is my guacamole browning in the fridge?
When avocados react with air, this is called oxidation, which causes a browning color. It does not inherently mean that your avocados or guacamole are bad.
The acid from the lemon and limes do help, but the top layer closest to your container lid will likely turn a brownish color while sitting in the fridge.
No worries, if you stir it all together, it will be a vibrant green underneat.
Quick tip: Store leftover guacamole in a jar inside of a square/rectangular shaped container. The smaller surface will allow less of the guac to turn brown since it’s only the top that reacts to the air.
How can I use copycat Chipotle guacamole?
There are so many ways to use guacamole. Here’s some recipes for you to try it with:
- Vegan Walnut French Fries
- Vegan Nachos
- Vegan Quinoa and Black Bean Tacos
Why do you not use tomatoes in this guacamole recipe?
Many guacamole recipes include diced roma tomatoes. This, however, is a copycat Chipotle guacamole. Since there are no tomatoes in Chipotle’s version, we did not include them here.
Feel free to add fresh, diced tomatoes if desired to yours.
Do I have to use both lemons and limes in this?
Most guacamole recipes only use limes. Chipotle does use both in their recipe which is why it’s included here. However, you can only use limes if that’s all that you have!
Why are garlic and cumin optional?
Chipotle doesn’t list garlic or cumin in their ingredient list; however, we just like it in guac, so we are putting it as optional.
